The emergence of Internet and e-commerce technologies, combined with
important EU application areas such as Organic Agriculture (OA) presents
new opportunities for development of national economies, improvement of food
quality and environmental protection. The rapid development of OA in Europe in
recent years has attracted the interest of the policy makers who seem to
realise that by providing motives towards this direction will deliver
environmental benefits to society, expand consumer choice and allow the
industry to contribute to the rural development.
Bio@gro platform is an Organic Agriculture eServices System that is developed by
the Bio@gro Consortium and financed by the E.C. Commission - DG Information
Society. It aims at providing a multilingual single point of information access
on organic farming and products to all interested parties of Organic Agricultural
community.
